The first detail we noticed as we pulled into the driveway is that you can hear the ocean and smell the salt air.   The second thing we noticed is that Sandpiper is truly one of a kind.  It’s an octagonal beach house, which we have quickly come to love.  Not only is it unique and cozy, it offers a ton of natural light due to all of the windows and offers a large, open living space on the main level where we spend most of our time.  A spacious great room, well-stocked kitchen, and four bedrooms occupy this level.  There is plenty of space to hang out, eat meals together, watch movies, play games, or build puzzles.  The natural light combined with the warm wood on this level makes it both warm and serene.  As an added perk, this level leads out to the multi-level decking where you can relax in the hot tub or the hammock while soaking in the peaceful surroundings.  The live oak trees and variety of foliage create a sense of privacy as you read a book or visit with your family or friends.

The first level is fun, vibrant, and has some retro vibes to it.  It’s the perfect spot to hang out, watch movies, read books, or play games.   It also serves as a great space for kids to hang out as all of the games, books, and puzzles are stored on this level.

The luxurious master suite feels like a retreat and occupies the entire top level, offering breathtaking views of both the Corolla lighthouse and the ocean.  Opening the blinds to watch the sunrise is simply the best.

The house was built in the 80s and is made with high quality, long lasting materials which is obvious when you are living in it.  It celebrates the marriage of old and new as you are surrounded by the original hardwood floors and paneling but also by new, coastal-inspired decor.

We have fallen in love with this peaceful retreat and hope you will, too.  Being in the Outer Banks is always a treat, but staying in this house feels like an experience in and of itself.  Enjoy!
